We went out for dinner the other night and I felt like this outfit was a total disaster! It started from the moment I opened my cupboard. I was so pressed for time, the clothes were on my body almost as soon as I'd picked them out.
This meant I didn't have time to think about what I was going to wear -- I just threw something on, pulled out anything that sort of matched with it and hoped for the best.
Luckily, I grabbed this trusty, loose-fitting black dress, so I didn't have to think too hard before pulling out something warm to wear over it. I don't know what made me choose it, but I went for this "vintage" jersey that I don't wear very often.
My mom bought it probably over 30 years ago, but she lost interest in it after a while. She was sorting out her things one day -- I was a child, but I can't remember how old -- when I swiped the jersey (though, I prefer the word salvaged) from a pile of clothing she was giving away to the poor.
I, too, would've thrown it out a long time ago (it's not as if it's a designer item or particularly pretty), but there's something unique about it that made me hold on to it -- the built-in scarf! I've seen lots of hats with them but I don't recall ever seeing a jersey with one.
As lovely as my jersey is, it still wasn't enough to comfort the feeling of having been rushed (and bleh) that night... Next time, I'll make sure I do it justice.
Outfit details:
Jersey: stolen from my mom's throwaway pile/ Dress: can't remember/ Boots: a small shoe shop in Berlin, Germany/ Stockings: Woolworths/ Clutch: borrowed from my colleague Michelle, who is to be featured on The Vogue Diet in coming days.
I feel so famous right now. Love the outfit :)
