From the moment I conjured up this challenge, I should've known. I should've known that six days are too ambitious. But I made it six anyway because "Six-Day Superfood Challenge" sounds so much better than "Five-day Superfood Challenge" ever could, and the Lord alone knows how I love my alliteration.
The point is, I scrapped the last day of my challenge all together. For supper, I ate my mom's creamy chicken and mushroom soup, home-baked (white) bread rolls, frikkadels and homemade tomato sauce. Yes, I know. I took a tremendous tumble off the wagon.
Mind you, I had a soft landing. For one, I must point out that the meal I described above has at least two kinds of superfoods in it -- tomatoes and mushrooms -- but I can admit defeat, so I'm not here to save face. I say my landing from my off-the-wagon tumble was soft because I achieved exactly what I wanted with it.
Despite a cheat here and there, and a complete collapse at the end, I lost an entire kilogram during my superfood challenge! It was quite impressive, considering my calorie intake was a bit higher than usual and last week was one of the busiest I've had in a long time, so I only managed to hit the gym twice.
There are two things I've learned from this: one, superfoods work; two, I'll probably never do it again.
Diets are not for me. Technically. When I know I can't have something, that's when my body craves it the most. I believe the best thing to do is incorporate healthy, nutritious superfoods into your daily life if you want them to make a real impact.
