Jeans: Woolworths/ Sweater: Cherokee/ Waistcoat: Mr Price/ Shoes: All Stars/ Beanie: borrowed |
It was cold and rainy most of this week, which called for my trusty velvet sweater. I bought it a couple of years ago but hardly wore it because it's a little figure-hugging for my taste. Yes, figure-hugging can be slimming but sometimes it just accentuates all the wrong curves -- like your muffin top. Hehe!
I've come to love this sweater, though, and now I wear it at least once a week. Most times, I wear it with a coat or a waistcoat like this edgy denim one (it's soon to make another appearance on this blog). I don't know about you guys, but I had a rock n roll phase the year after high school. I wore T-shirts with my favourite bands on them, I donned All Stars religiously, I pinned badges to everything and owned knee-length socks with horizontal stripes that I would wear with skirts and, of course, my All Stars. I still have the socks, by the way, and sometimes wear them under my jeans on cold days.
I look back fondly on that that time of my life, and this denim waistcoat reminds me a little of it. I have a little rock n roll in me yet! Oh, and as you can see, I may have discarded my Korn T-shirt but I'll never give up my All Stars. I wear them less frequently now but they're like an old friend -- comfortable no matter how long it's been.
