This is the dress! Though, it looks much better on. |
Ok, so the dress isn’t completely black. But it certainly is little. In fact, it’s so little that I expect I’d need to lose another 5 to 10kgs to fit into it.
The thing about this dress is that we have a history. I bought it at H&M in Berlin in July, 2010.
When I tried it on, it didn’t fit me. The zip didn’t go all the way up, but it showed so much potential. I’d never actually tried on a short dress -- before or since -- that I looked good in. So, I bought it. And just as the sales lady swiped my already-strained bank card, I thought: “I’ll lose some weight. It’ll fit me in no time.”
Right there, I should’ve known better. Fast-forward almost two years later and I’ve never worn that dress. It’s been banished to the deepest pit of my cupboard where I keep old high school love letters and faded Linkin Park posters from back when I thought they made good music.
Luckily, it’s not the kind of dress that’s only trendy for one season. I was cleaning out my cupboard in December when I again came across THE dress. At that point, however, instead of losing weight since returning home from my trip, I’d gained 6kgs. The horror!
It was then that I made the decision. I would lose enough weight to fit into my precious -- insert Lord of the Rings Smeagol voice -- dress, no matter how long it took me. And I must admit, it’s taking me pretty long.
So far, I’ve lost 11kgs (roughly 22 pounds). But I only recently sparked the brilliant, revolutionary, very original idea to chronicle my weight loss journey in a blog. You can expect three major themes in this blog: food, fun and fashion. Also, quite a lot of alliteration; I love it loads.
